Must-Do Frederick End-of-Summer Activities
Attend One Last Alive @ Five
Frederick’s outdoor happy hour event is a great place for socializing and immersing yourself in local food, beer & wine, and bands. All events are open to the 21+ crowd only, however, there are usually families across the creek that enjoy listening to the live music.
Enjoy One Last Gelati at Rita’s of Frederick
There are plenty of ice cream places in Frederick County but there’s one that is only open seasonally and that is Rita’s of Frederick. Their Italian ices and custard are so delicious, that you’ll want to have one last taste of summer before they close for the cold. (Last day open is October 2nd.)
Take One Last Weekend Trip to Deep Creek Lake
While Deep Creek is a great place to visit year-round, the days of swimming and water sports are winding down for the year. There’s something for everyone at Deep Creek. Rent a jet ski for the fast-paced thrill or paddleboard for an adventure. Hurry, while the water is still warm!
Browse One Last Frederick County Farmer’s Market
When you shop at a local market, farmers receive more money for their efforts and consumers enjoy fresher, flavorful ingredients. Many of the Farmer’s Markets in the Frederick area come to an end by October, including the ones in Brunswick, Emmitsburg, Middletown, Myersville, and New Market. Visit homegrownfrederick.com/farmers-markets to view a list of the markets happening in Frederick County.
Go to The Great Frederick Fair
The Great Frederick Fair tends to bring carnival season to a close. This year the fair runs from September 16th – 24th, 2022. You’ll find an exciting agenda full of food, concerts, and agricultural education that you don’t want to miss. Fun for the whole family!
The weather is still warm, the sun is shining, and there’s plenty of fun to be had in Frederick before summer comes to an end. So get out there and enjoy Alive @ Five, a cold treat from Rita’s of Frederick, a weekend trip to Deep Creek Lake, a local farmer’s market, and The Great Frederick Fair.
